Castaic Lake held near 77 percent of its storge capacity, and water temperatures were in the low fifties. Tight lipped bass, high winds, and wildfire mad for tough fishing lately. Castaic Lake is closed until further notice. Early in the week the best bet was to use drop shot, Ned rigs, Carolina rigs, and small jigs. C3 baits Shimmy and Ice Picks have been a go to bait for lake regulars. Spoons also fooled plenty of bass down to 50 feet over rock piles and deep wood. Striper fell for trolled umbrella rigs and streamer flies. One angler reported scoring a limit of striped bass fishing 50 to 90 feet deep with cut sardines.
