Isabella Lake held at 27 percent of its storage capacity and the water temp is in the low 50’s. There is a ton of schooling bait around the lake. Both bass and crappie are gorging themselves on this bait. Our contacts reported a decent wintertime bass bite going here. Sonars and blade baits getting action on keeper size and nice size bass. They’re also getting some quality bites on 3/8 or 1/2oz football Black and Blue jigs with Rapala black/blue clean up Craws or Brown/purple jigs with chigger craws. Big Swimbaits have been scoring some quality bass. Our sources reported the best action near Rocky Point, Engineers, and Piney Point. The catfish bite has been decent lately with SSS Dip Bait, mackerel and nightcrawlers. The crappie is very good here right now. Our sources reported scoring slabs with natural color jigs. When the bite slows add a chartreuse tail and that can generate a bite. Crappie are being found in as deep as 30 to 40-feet, but many of the bites are coming from 15-feet of water.
