Striped bass were reported by bait and lure anglers last week. The bite was on the slow side, but there are some hungry fish here and there. Bait anglers soaked sardines, anchovies, and bloodworms on the bottom after check gates, and the lure of choice has been white Magnum Flukes on a jig head. Some striper were also reported on goby imitating tube baits using a lift and drop technique. Catfish anglers reported doing well using cut baits, dip bait, and chicken liver. Largemouth bass fell for finesse options like drop shot or shaky heads fished near check gates. Some quality winter bass were reported by anglers using Rattle Traps before and after check gates.
