The lake rose to 75 percent of the It’s storage capacity, and water temperatures remained in the mid-fifties. Finesse techniques have been the best way to boat good numbers of bass. Anglers used drop shot Senkos, darter head grubs, and Carolina rigs in shad, salt and pepper, and ox blood red flake along rocky structure to get bites. Bluff walls and points held biting fish from 5 to 40 feet deep. Kastmasters, blade baits, and tailspins took deeper fish. The striped bass remained stubbornly elusive. Trolling umbrella rigs in 50 feet of water is almost guaranteed to fool a few zebras. Catfish fell for live nightcrawlers and cut baits in the coves east of the marina. Trout anglers reported fair fishing. Most of the reports came from bass anglers landing massive rainbows on drop shot plastic worms and small jerkbaits.
