Santa Ana River Lakes has been cranking out easy limits of catfish on shrimp and the marshmallow-meal worm combo. While the fish are showing throughout the lakes' complex, the "road" seems to be the hot spot. Silver King catfish plants are twice a week, and there were more quality cats this past week. Top catfish was a 12-8 catfish landed by Ernest Orrantia, Bell Gardens, fishing the marshmallow-meal worm combo in the Catfish Lake. Vincent Gonzales, West Covina, landed an eight-pound cat at the Bubble Hole, also on the M&M combo. A 7 1/2-pounde was landed by Jason Mark, Harbor City, on shrimp in Chris' Pond, and a seven-pounder was caught by Gilbert Ahumada, Bellflower, on shrimp fishing at the road from a boat. The best stringer of the week was a catch of 23 fish by Trino Magana, La Habra, that weighed 66 pounds fishing the M&M combo at the road. His top fish was a 5 1/2 pounder. Leo and Amaeo Rivera and Joel and Mauricio Calvrio, all Chino Hills, had 20 catfish for 49 pounds fishing shrimp at the road. Santiago Palacios, West Covina, landed 21 cats for 43 pounds on the M&M combo at the road, while Trino Magana, La Habra, had five cats for 17 1/2 pounds, including a five-pound, also on the M&M combo and also at the road.

The catfish are being planted twice a week, usually on Tuesdays and Fridays, and tilapia are added at least once a week. While most anglers aren't targeting the tilapia, they have been good on nightcrawlers pieces.
