The catfish action was very good over the Memorial Day weekend at Santa Ana River Lakes, and many anglers are still picking up rainbow trout, even with warming water temperatures.

Most of the catfish have been running about two pounds, but a bonus plant of trophy cats over five pounds went in last week. Anglers are reminded there is no limit on the trout right now, and the bite has remained pretty fair.

Catfish are being planted twice each week, with tilapia added weekly. The bite on the tilapia has been pretty good on nightcrawlers pieces. There are also a lot of bluegill showing in this bite. A few sturgeon are also caught each week, but this bite will slow as the water continues to warm.
