A pair of catfish plants at Corona Lake last week kicked the action into high gear for the whiskerfish. There are also still a lot of rainbow trout showing, and a pretty good bite on tilapia, bluegill, and bass. Even a few sturgeon are still being caught.

The best action for the cats has been for boat or shore anglers who are risking losing a few rigs and fishing up in the flooded brush and trees with nightcrawlers, JD's Catfish Bait, or the meal worm-marshmallow or shrimp-marshmallow combo bait.

The official Catfish Grand Opening will be this weekend (May 20-22), and there will be a bonus plant of trophy Silver King catfish, in addition to another load of pan-sized cats from 1 1/2 to three pounds along with tilapia.
