Lake Elevation: 1719 and dropping

Surface water temp: 68 - 72 degrees

Fish Plants: 2,500 pounds of Mt. Lassen rainbow trout were planted November 8th.

Lake Hours: 6:00 am to 4:30 pm.

Weather:??Temperatures have been in the 80's with mild winds. As a general rule, Santa Ana winds do not negatively affect the lake.

Bass: Anglers fishing with swimbait were getting the biggest fish this week. LA Sliders, California Swimbabes, and Huddlestons were the most reported swimbaits. Drop shotting plastics on the points in 25-45 feet of water. Ice jigs were pulling in some big, deeper running, fish this week. The east dam, the west dam, shore line fishing, and the point to the left of the marina were the most reported lake locales for those looking for bass. Susan Anderson of Bloomington got a 6.77 pound bass fishing with Kastmasters on the east dam. Shore Angler Jesse Mena of Hemet got a 8.83 pound bass fishing with a swimbait. Lance Dashner of Moreno valley got a 9.35 pound bass fishing the east dam with a Storm shad swimbait.

Trout: ????DVL was hot for trout this week. Trout were biting from 10-25 feet near the marina specifically along the shoreline fishing area, but the holdover trout remained slow. ??Kastmasters, mini jigs, Powerworms, and in-line spinners were all great baits for trout. Blake Bristol of Arroyo Grande got a 7.61 pound holdover trout fishing in the marina with a Kastmaster. Shore Angler Jesse Mena of Hemet got a 8.24 pound trout fishing with a crappie jig. Mark Robinson of Menifee got a 8.90 pound trout fishing with a kastmaster on the first point of the shoreline fishing area.

Striper: ??Striped bass were on the attack this week. Trout swim baits, Plugs or stick baits were the most reported lures for striper. Striper fishing seems to be best either early in the morning, in the late afternoon, or on overcast days. Fishing points near the marina or on the west dam is advised. Paul Thompson of Hemet got a 10 pound striper fishing near the inlet, but would not disclose his methods. Jeff Burke of Bellflower got a 9.73 pound striper fishing with a swimbait on the west dam. Dave Schlarman of Murrieta got a 10.52 pound striper fishing the west dam with a Huddleston swimbait. John curry Jr. of San Marcos got a 11.48 pound striper fishing the west dam, but would not divulge his secret weapon. Joe Meryill of Riverside got two at 11 and 9.5 pounds fishing with a Spro BBZ swimbait on the west dam.Rocky Asbury of riverside got a 9.60 pound striper fishing the west dam with an LA Slider. Steven Kosal of Ontario got a 12.26 pound striper fishing the marina with a Z- Plug. Jesse Mena of Hemet got the biggest striper of the week weighing 20.10 pounds. He was fishing from shore with a live crawdad.

Catfish:????Catfish are still biting at DVL.??Best bet is the third cove of shoreline fishing, and near the rock quarry. The most effective baits have been anchovies, mackerel, and raw shrimp. Most catfish have been found on the bottom in 25 - 50 feet.??Peter torres of Moreno valley got a 5.77 pound catfish fishing the marina with a nightcrawler. Gilbert Villasenor of Homeland got a 4.52 pound catfish. He was fishing in the second cove of shoreline with anchovies dropped to 30 feet. Jesse Dinkins of Hemet got a 7.57 pound blue cat fishing with shrimp near the wave attenuator. Bob Copple of Rancho Cucamonga got a 22.63 pound blue fishing the west dam with a crawdad at 50 feet.

Panfish: The panfish bite slowed this week. The most reported spots for bluegill have been near the dams or near the eucalyptus trees in the south east corner. Live worms or shad have been the best bet for panfish.

Lake Record Striper November 11, 2005: Art Berry of Hemet; 29.77 lb. striper caught at East Dam using swimbait.
Lake Record Largemouth Bass March 16th 2007: DVL would like to congratulate Mike Long of Poway who became the new Largemouth bass record holder this week with a 16.43 pound bass. He was fishing the west dam with a 6" "Real Trout" Rago swimbait.
Lake Record Crappie: 3.0 pounds landed by Keith Thomas. He was fishing with shad.
Lake Record Blue Gill: John Arganda, of?? Menifee, broke the lake pan fish record by bringing in a 3.06 pound blue gill. He got it on a night crawler fishing near the saddle dam.
Lake Record Catfish January 19, 2007: Congratulations to Doug Hagadorn of Valley Center! He caught a 32.80 pound catfish. He was fishing at 60 feet with a Pig N' Jig around the first island on the north shore.
Lake Record Trout, March 12, 2005: Shawn Luhmann got a 11.30 pound rainbow trout on on the shoreline fishing area.

Lake Elevation: 1726.23 and dropping Surface water temp: 68 - 72 degrees Fish Plants: 2,500 pounds of Mt. Lassen rainbow trout scheduled for October 25th if surface temperature remains consistent.
