Heavy limits and big catfish have been on the chew at Santa Ana River Lakes. Anglers deciding to fish the night & overnight sessions have had the best success. Heaviest catfish of the week was caught by Pedro Villa of Anaheim. Pedro caught a huge 17 1/2 pound cat using a mealworm & marshmallow combo in the catfish lake. Heaviest stringer of the week was landed by the Magana family of La Habra. Trino Magana and his sons landed 21 catfish totaling 46 pounds using a mealworm/marshmallow combination in the Big Lake at Sandy Beach. Scott Chance of Fullerton caught a huge 17 pound catfish using shrimp from a boat. The Nerium family of Las Vegas, NV landed 16 catfish totaling 37 pounds using shrimp & hotdogs at the Boat Dock.
