The Santa Ana Winds have blown through the Big Bear Valley and have sent "Old Man Winter" on hiatus! The warmer weather means no sheet ice on our "Blue Jewel" and the sweetest of "Honey Holes" are once again accessible! Juniper Point, Serrano (Near the Solar Observatory) Windy Point and from Grey's Landing to the Dam are being identified as the best producing spots. Trout are staying in 12 to 18 feet of water and the bite is pretty consistent up until about 1 p.m. Purple Nymph, Chartreuse Garlic, Rainbow Garlic, Rainbow Salmon Egg and Chunky Cheese GULP and Power Baits seem to be what these "High Altitude Pink Meats" are craving the most! Remember, patience and a 3-4 foot fluorocarbon leader are a must for the succesful angler. Water temp remains at about 38 to 40 degrees on the surface and the clarity is good.

So until next time, Here's wishing you tight lines and a full stringer!
