BASS
You can catch plenty of bass up shallow in the grass with spoons, swimbaits, flukes, poppers, senkos, and cranks, either form a boat or from the banks. For a keeper you got to fish deeper, 35 to 50 feet with a Carolina rig or jig. Lassen improved the basin so a BBZ, La Slider, or Zplug can help you lug in a lunker largemouth.
TROUT
Lassen brought some stout trout this week. From boat or shore you can catch limit in a minute. What bait to buy? Crawlers, Powerbait, and mini jigs are the way to spend your dollars. Hot spots? The marina cove is a great spot to catch a big 'bow.
STRIPER
Big baits are getting heavy weights at DVL. 10 - 12 pound striper can be found on shore galore or slam a lineside near the east dam. Lunker punkers, triple trouts, LA sliders, Zplugs, and 6 " BBZ's are great lures to assure you'll land a lunker. Steve Nicholas of Hemet caught a 10 pound striper fishing from shore with a lunker punker. Ryan Lock of Santa Clarita caught two striper at 15 and 11 pounds fishing the west side with a Lunker punker. Tim Merrifield of Poway caught a 12 pound striper fishing with a Lunker Punker. Colton Merrifield of Poway caught a 3 pound striper fishing with a Sebile lure.
CATFISH
DVL has seen a slight catfish bite. The north corner of the east dam is the spot where cats are hot. Mackerel or anchovies great bait for fat cats.
