With the combination of shad and DFG trout in the lake the bass bite is on fire. Topwater and shad baits remained the best methods for morning bass fishing, where spoons and worm fishing were great for deeper fish.this week. Spooks, jerkbaits, scroungers, Kastmasters, Hopkins spoons, ice jigs, little Georges, reapers and morning dawn Roboworms are just a few the hot baits for largemouth. The upcoming trout plant will kick off a great season for DVL trout. Striper fishing is steady either fishing the flocks or stocks. If striper are on the shad bad follow the birds for busting boils. After we drop the trout get the big baits out. George Woods of Oceanside caught 3 cats at 13.9, 10.22, and 9.94 pounds fishing with chicken liver near the east dam. The pan fish bite is still reeling the east dam being the best spot. Blue gill is the most common catch, but some crappie are being caught. Live worms, mini jigs, and crickets are the best baits.
