Surface water temp: 67-70 degrees

Weather: Temperatures are between 78-89 degrees
. The massive bass boils are showing no sign of slowing. Big bait balls are plentiful so topwater is still phenomenal. Sammies, Tango Dancers, Sebile Flat Shads, and spooks are just a few of the many topwater baits great for bass. Flukes are great for fishing for shad schools. Fish them on a darter or scrounger head. For those who love plastics The Senko is a great bait for hungry largemouth. Shad cranks and rattle traps are also some great hard baits for largemouth. Lance Fryer reported a 4 pound smallmouth fishing with a 2" grub. Kimmi Champagne of Hemet caught a 7.2 pound bass fishing with a crankbait.
The trout will be here soon! You'll be the first to know when we get a specific date. There was a DFG deluge of finglerling fodder as if the striper weren't shad stuffed enough. DFG made several drops this week on both ends of the lake driving the striper into a heightened feeding frenzy. Swimbaits are great for after the plants. LA sliders, Spro BBZ's, Zplugs, Kong's, KPN's, Tripple Trouts, and Lunker Punkers were all heavily reported lures. When the striper are on the shad topwater baits of all kinds, jerk baits, flukes on scroungers or darters, shad cranks, Krocodiles, and Kastmasters are the most reported lures. Manuel Ballard of Fontana caught an 8.5 pound striper fishing with a fluke on a darter head. Adam Hsieh caught two stripers just over 7 pounds fishing with a jerkbait along the west dam. Jacob Petrillo of corona caught a 5.3 pound striper fishing with a jerkbait. near the west dam. Mike Andrews of Pomona caught a 8.8 pound striper fishing near the east dam with a swimbait. Matt Roberts of Redlands caught a 12 pound striper fishing with a spook. Kimmi Champagne of Hemet fished three days in a row this week putting a serious hurt on the DVL striper population. Most of her fish were over 10 pounds with her biggest over 17 pounds. She used an arsenal of swimbaits with the Z plug being the most successful lure. Jessica Spence of Hemet caught a 16 pound striper fishing with an LA slider. Kevin Deemer of Hemet caught an 8.10 pound striper fishing near the marina with a Kastmaster. Marcellous Blount Sr. of Apple Valley Caught a 9.59 pound striper fishing with a white Zplug.
George Woods of Oceanside caught 3 cats at 13.9, 10.22, and 9.94 pounds fishing with chicken liver near the east dam. The pan fish bite is still reeling the east dam being the best spot. Blue gill is the most common catch, but some crappie are being caught. Live worms, mini jigs, and crickets are the best baits. Scott Holley of Torrance caught a 1.77 pound blue gill fishing near the east dam with Powerworms.
