BASS
DVL bass are feeding on shad, so try your best to match the hatch. Flukes fly lined or fished with scroungers or underspins, small cranks, and jerkbaits are prime choices. That is not to say that the drop shot, Carolina rig, senkos, and spinner baits did not account for some great catches this week. Bring an arsenal of gear if you want the best results. Most reports have bass between 15 and 30 feet on main lake points.
TROUT
DVL needs anglers to come scout for trout. There has not been a trout report in weeks.
STRIPER
The striper bite was on fire this week. Scroungers, Rapalas, Spro shad baits, spoons, zplugs, or any shad bait that matches the hatch will get some boiling striper. The west dam and the marina are the most reported spots for crazy striper action. Kimmi Champagne of Hemet caught two stripers at 4 pounds each fishing a scrounger. Robert Khan, Stephen Kosal, and Davy Nget caught a total each got 80 pound limits fishing with white swimbaits, scroungers, spoons and topwater.
CATFISH
The catfish bite is still strong. Anchovies, mackerel, or chicken liver are the recommended baits for cats. Robert Moore of Riverside caught a 12.65 pound cat fishing near the inlet with an anchovy.
PANFISH
Bluegill is bold but crappie is spotty. Shore anglers should fish in the twigs with worms or jigs. From a boat fish the dams with a worm and a float.Casper Mujica Jr. of Moreno Valley caught a 1.18 pound blue gill fishing the south east corner with a nightcrawler. Scott Holley of Torrance caught a 1.77 pound blue gill fishing with powerworms near the east dam.
