Pyramid held at 92 percent of its storage capacity, and water temps hovered around 80 degrees. Lake staff have issued a caution concerning the algae bloom in the lake. Fishing was fair for most anglers at Pyramid with catfish providing the most consistent action. Whisker fish picked up Carolina rigged cut baits, dip bait, and chicken liver throughout the lake with the marina and inlet providing consistent action. Bass anglers worked main lake points and rocky structure with deep diving crankbaits for a few fish, but it was the finesse baits that provided the best action. Drop shot, shaky heads and Texas rigs took fish in the weed beds and along bluff walls. Ox Blood, Margarita Mutilator, and Aaron’s Magic were good color choices. Striped bass fell for cut baits and trolled umbrella rigs, but the striper bite hasn’t been wide open. Anglers are still reporting occasional striper boils in open water.
