Pyramid Lake remained near maximum capacity and water temperatures fell into the mid-seventies. The morning boils have really slowed down at Pyramid, but keep a topwater bait handy because they have not disappeared. Topwater baits and crankbaits worked decently for large and smallmouth until about 9am. Bass anglers switched to drop shot 4” curly tail worms, Keitechs, and Senkos mid-day. Most of the bass have been holding on points in 5 to 20 feet of water. Local angler, Shane Thomas, reported doing very well on smallmouth around Chumash Island while throwing small shad imitation finesse baits. Striped bass chased umbrella rigs trolled in 25 feet of water over main lake points. They also ate cut baits and lugworms near the marina. Catfish picked up chicken liver, dip bait, and cut baits just about anywhere in the lake.
