Stripers have been boiling this past week. Fishing has been mainly topwater, flukes, and reaction baits first thing in the morning, with a lot of the boils being mixed in with both stripers and largemouth. The bite tends to slow down when the heat begins to increase, and the sun starts heating the water up. A few afternoon boils have been seen but mainly in the later evening. Once the topwater action slows down, most anglers have been having good success with cut bait and worms for the stripers. Lug worms, sardines, and nightcrawlers all have been working. Catfish have been biting better with the increasing water temperatures, they have also been hitting any worm or cut bait. The largemouth however, are mainly chasing shad and have been more aggressive first thing in the morning. Anglers using dip nets have been stocking up on live shad and have been having wide open days of multi-species. Once the reaction bite slows down, you can get them on most finesse style plastics, and plain old nightcrawlers. Anglers not able to obtain live shad have been having their best luck before the heat kicks in. The bluegill and crappie bite is picking up as well, with the lower lagoon being more productive lately. Fewer trout are being caught, mainly holdovers, and our next plant should be around Halloween.

The Striper are also biting on sardines, anchovies, and...... Read More
