The wind! The wind this week has been terrible with gusts to 45 mph, even the fishermen and fisherwomen in pontoons were getting wet. And to add insult to injury the shore fishers were tearing it up with worms on a bobber. Quite a few fish were lost at the boat. These lassen fish are some of the strongest fish you could ever tangle with. One angler who we will call Matt lost a big trout which snapped ten lb. line after at least a 15 minute fight. A shout out to Benny Pizano who landed a very nice trout and finished it off with a great looking bass. Good job Benny!! The trout derby went off well with the majority of fish caught being trout, bass, catfish and you guessed it.... CRAPPIE. The big trout weighed in at 7.9 lbs. So it looks like things are starting to pick up.
Tidbits: Calaveras trout prefer power bait, lassen trout prefer nightcralers.

Some small mouth are being had up in the mohawk area on bass lures. Crappie are still a no go, as is large mouth and catfish...... Read More
