As many of you know, Rick and I write the fishing report so on that note, fishing this week is unknown except for this Saturday and on as we didn`t get out of Humphrey`s Basin until Friday late afternoon. Thanks to Kyler, Mike and Tess Ann of Bishop Pack Outfitters (BPO) for taking us in and making sure we got out safely.
The Aspens and Willows are in their glory of yellows, reds, and oranges amongst the green of the evergreens. Hopefully, we won`t get a deep freeze with this cooling weather or the leaves will turn black and drop. Not sure how long the colors will last, so . . . . . . . . .
What we do know is that fishing the Dingleberry Inlet with PowerBait or worms (the standards) usually will garnish a few limits along with drifting the same baits and shore fishing with worms or eggs. Trolling flashers and worms should also still be bringing in limits. With the snow and cooler temps, the fish are starting to come up.
David Trevino of Chino Hills was able to finally lure a big fish out of the lake - a 4-pound Alper on a Nightcrawler.
Once again, the Department of Fish and Game did NOT stock the lake this week. If you happen to catch a fish with a tag in the gill, it`s just to let you know the DFG are stocking with some larger fish. We ask that you all be real careful this year and remember Smokey`s Motto - "Only YOU can prevent Forest Fires!"
Lake Sabrina Boat Landing will be going to our Fall hours:
Monday thru Friday ??- 8:00am to 6:00pm
Saturday ?? ?? ?? - 7:00am to 7:00pm
Sunday ?? ??- 7:00am to 6:00pm
The Forestry has closed the following campgrounds for the season - North Lake, Sabrina Camp and Willow campground.
Did I mention the SNOW this week at the boat landing and where we were camping in Humphreys Basin? It started snowing on Wednesday evening and it was still spitting snow through Saturday. The landing received about 3 inches while us in the back-country woke to about 6 inches around the tent Friday morning.
The temperatures dropped a quite bit from last week down to the mid 40s during the day and to the low 30s in the evening. Remember, the campgrounds tend to be a bit on the cooler side as they sit down in the canyon by the stream you all like to have running by your camp.
