The bite continues to be good for both catfish and tilapia at Corona Lake this week.

The catfish bite has been best at night or in deeper water from boats during the day. The top baits have been mackerel dipped in garlic Gravy. The best spot continues to be the south end.

Willford Burgess, La Puente, had the top catch this week with a 13-0 catfish topping a 10 fish, 56-pound stringer of cats. All were caught mackerel fishing from a boat. Lamonte Smith, Corona, also caught a 13-0 catfish on mackerel fishing in the south end. Mike McClanahan, Riverside, caught a three fish stringer totaling 19-8 with fish to 9-8 on mackerel fishing from boat.

The tilapia bite remains good. Nightcrawlers fished in the shallow water is the best bet for these fish, and some bluegill are also showing for anglers fishing the tilapia.

Corona Lake is open seven days a week with fishing allowed from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. on day passes or from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. on an evening pass. Each of these $20 passes has a five-fish limit. The popular 24-hour fishing passes are offered every Friday and Saturday night through the rest of the summer. These passes have a 15-fish limit and cost $45. The lake is planted with catfish and tilapia each week.
