The good fishing continues at Corona Lake this week for catfish and tilapia with some bluegill showing as well.??
The catfish bite continues to be best at night or in deeper water from boats during the day. The top baits have been mackerel, garlic gravy, and Redneck Dave's Catfish Bait. The best spot continues to be the south end.
Top catfish this week was landed by Dave Berry, Elsinore, who caught the 18-0 fish on mackerel fishing from boat. The 18-0 topped a 12 fish stringer totaling 42-0 for Berry. Bud Welford, Norco, had a nice stringer of six catfish totaling 21-0 with fish to 5-0 on mackerel fishing from boat. Sergio Rodriguez and Edgar Eluanado, both of Riverside, teamed up for a three fish stringer totaling 7-0 on the M&M (marshmallow and mealworm) combo.
The tilapia bite remains good. Nightcrawlers fished in the shallow water is the best bet for these fish, and some bluegill are also showing for anglers fishing the tilapia.??
Corona Lake is open seven days a week with fishing allowed from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. on day passes or from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. on an evening pass. Each of these $20 passes has a five-fish limit. The popular 24-hour fishing passes are offered every Friday and Saturday night through the rest of the summer. These passes have a 15-fish limit and cost $45. The lake is planted with catfish and tilapia each week. For more Corona Lake fishing information, call (951) 277-4489
