Catfish, tilapia bites stay strong at Corona Lake

Fishing remains good at Corona Lake with catfish and tilapia showing in good numbers and a fair number of big bluegill are also showing as well.
The catfish bite continues to be best at night or in deeper water from boats during the day. The top baits have been mackerel and shrimp. The hot spot has been the south end in the trees.
Dave Berry and Dave Berry Jr., both of Upland, teamed up to catch 15 catfish totaling 22-0. Fred Offeney, Riverside, caught three catfish totaling 11-4.
The tilapia bite remains good. Nightcrawlers fished in the shallow water has been the best bet for these fish, and bluegill are also showing for anglers fishing the tilapia. Robert Aguilera, Chino, caught 10 tilapia totaling 9-8 with fish to 1-8. Troy Quinten, Temecula, caught three tilapia totaling 3-0.??
Corona Lake is open seven days a week with fishing allowed from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. on day passes or from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. on an evening pass. Each of these $20 passes has a five-fish limit. The popular 24-hour fishing passes are offered every Friday and Saturday night through the rest of the summer. These passes have a 15-fish limit and cost $45.
