Catfish season is almost here but the last of the big trout are still being caught at Santa Ana River Lakes. S.A.R.L. has already started pre-stocking catfish twice a week in anticipation for the huge catfish opener May 23rd.

Art Flores of Norwalk landed a 9 pound rainbow trout using orange dough bait in Chris' Pond. Chuck Mallory of Lakewood caught a 5 1/2 lb. trout using white lightning also in Chris' Pond. Andrew & Dennis Deal of Andrew Deal Outdoors caught 3 trout totaling 5 pounds using chartreuse at the boat dock. Nicole Beaver of Anaheim started the season early and ended up with 3 catfish totaling 6 lb. 12 oz. using mackerel coated in Love Sauce fishing in the catfish lake.

The Catfish Grand Opening is scheduled for the big Memorial Day Weekend on May 23-24-25-26, and there will be 24-Hour Fishing all four days!!
