??Fishing has remained very good at Corona Lake this past week with catfish, tilapia, and bluegill all showing in good numbers for anglers.

The catfish bite continues to be best at night or in deeper water from boats during the day. Top baits for catfish are mackerel, shrimp, and nightcrawlers. Many quality catfish were reported again over the past week, with the top fish a 24-pounder landed by Lance Macniron, Bakersfield, on mackerel. Top stringer of the week weighed in at 54-4 caught by Todd Wilson, Murrieta, on mackerel and shrimp. Bud and Melissa Welford, Norco, caught two 8-0 catfish on mackerel. Geno Adams, Lake Elsinore, caught a 6-0 catfish on shrimp. Mike Hurst, Lake Elsinore, landed a 6-0 catfish to top a five fish stringer totaling 11-0 on nightcrawlers.

The tilapia bite remains good. Nightcrawlers fished in the shallow water has been the best bet for these fish, and bluegill are also showing for anglers fishing the tilapia.

Anglers have an opportunity to win a $250 prize package each week with the World Wide Web Cam event. Anglers simply need to bring their stringer of fish to the tackle shop, get their picture taken, and for each fish on their stringer they will receive a raffle ticket. Each week a winner will be drawn and the winner will be announced on http://www.fishingwebcam.com/. The event will last through July 29.

Corona Lake is open seven days a week with fishing allowed from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. on day passes or from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. on an evening pass. Each of these $20 passes has a five-fish limit. The popular 24-hour fishing passes are offered every Friday and Saturday night through the rest of the summer. These passes have a 15-fish limit and cost $45.
