The fishing remains good at Corona Lake this week. Both catfish and tilapia are showing in good numbers with a few quality catfish mixed in the catch.

Catfish have been hitting on a variety of baits this week with mackerel, shrimp, and nightcrawlers all working well. Anglers fishing from boat in the south end of the lake have been having the most success.

Top catfish this week was a 7-0 caught by Fred Offeney, Riverside, on a nightcrawler fishing from shore. The 7-0 cat topped a three-fish stringer totaling 19-0. Brandon Gurerro, Corona, caught a 7-0 catfish on a nightcrawler. Tom Lavornia, Huntington Beach, caught a 5-0 catfish on a nightcrawler at the dam, and Trae Cooper, Perris, caught a 5-0 cat on shrimp. William Neder, Duarte, caught a 4-8 catfish on mackerel at the dam.??

The tilapia bite has been good. Nightcrawlers fished in the shallow water has been the best bet for these fish. Jason Biber, Wisconsin, caught 16 tilapia totaling 13-8 with fish to 2-0 on nightcrawlers. Chuck Guynes, Elsinore, caught nine tilapia totaling 11-0 with fish to 3-0 on nightcrawlers.

Anglers have an opportunity to win a $250 prize package each week with the World Wide Web Cam event. Anglers simply need to bring their stringer of fish to the tackle shop, get their picture taken, and for each fish on their stringer they will receive a raffle ticket. Each week a winner will be drawn and the winner will be announced on http://www.fishingwebcam.com/. The event will last through July 29.

Corona Lake is open seven days a week with fishing allowed from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. on day passes or from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. on an evening pass. Each of these $20 passes has a five-fish limit. The popular 24-hour fishing passes are offered every Friday and Saturday night through the rest of the summer. These passes have a 15-fish limit and cost $45.
