Trout fishing kicked into high gear with the recent plant of "tail walkers", with shore anglers getting the best of the action, led by an 8 lb. fresh caught on a crawler caught by Russ Smith of Arroyo Grande. There was steady action around "E" point, the Mohawk area and Harvey's Bay on PowerBait, night crawlers and all types of spoons and spinners. There is one more plant slated for Friday, the 13th of April, a day prior to the trout derby.

Bass fishing has been good on senkos, drop shot, shallow cranks and blades, from 1' to 10' in the water column. Crappie were also being taken in the narrows, Santa Cruz Bay and Cachuma Bay. Some anglers reported up to 15 quality slabs. Mini jigs, and trolled Rapalas were the best choices.

Catfish showed up in the courts in the backs of coves on mackerel and packaged dough bait. Bow fishing for Carp has been inconsistent but the best results are in the morning. So far, no sign of any spawning, but it could commence any day.

April 4th is the date slated for a 4,500 lb. plant of "tail walkers", and April...... Read More
