The water temperature came up a few degrees and put almost all species on the chew. Trout fishing was good for those trolling Santa Cruz Bay from the surface to 2 colors of leadcore on a variety of baits. There were several limits reported by both private and rental fleet, as just about everyone returned at least a few nice Calaveras fish. April 4th is the date slated for a 4,500 lb. plant of "tail walkers", and April 13th the date for the last plant of the season one day prior to the annual Cachuma Trout Derby. Bass fishing has also turned on with the warming temperatures and were being caught on all kinds of baits and techniques. Fish were reported as shallow as 2' of water, and as deep as 20'. Bow fishing had some good days earlier in the week, and double didit action was the rule. Carp were found on the surface all over the lake in the early morning and again in the evening. There were some crappie brought in as well, but locations were not disclosed. Catfish also bit for those targeting them and mackerel was the best bait.
