What a beautiful week! We had the California State High School Rodeo finals in Bishop and you couldn`t have asked for a nicer bunch of kids and their parents and families. All I can say is they caught lots of fish and had plenty fun doing it. The lake`s come up a bit more this week, but we just don`t know how long it will stay up.
Rodeo rider Ginger Wafford of Fort Bragg landed a nice 3-1/4 pounder on a worm and of all things a marshmallow. (If you want to fish with marshmallows, get them before you head up the canyon).
The inlets are still the hot spot and NightCrawlers and PowerBait are still the ticket. Remember, there are actually three inlets. The big one (Dingleberry Inlet) back on the right, the smaller one (Little George Inlet) back on the left and the last (George Inlet) is a couple hundred yards to the north of the Little George Inlet on the left - just a bit of info. Trolling flashers with a worm, Red and Gold Thomas Buoyant or rapalas, or just a worm or a rapala brought lots of action for those boating. Shore anglers were also using NightCrawlers, PowerBait and Salmon Eggs. Also working either from shore or trolling were olive wooly buggers, olive matukas and red-throat olive matukas.
The Department of Fish and Game stocked the lake Monday with pan-size fish. If you happen to catch a fish with a tag in the gill, it`s just to let you know the DFG are stocking with some larger fish. Remember the Alper stocking by Southern California Edison, lots of those fish are still up for grabs.
The temperatures are back up to the mid 70s for the highs and in the high 40s for the lows. You may check out the weather at www.MammothWeather.com . The skeeters are not bad here at Lake Sabrina, but we have had reports that in some areas - watch out - they`ll carry you away - they haven't gone away yet! All campgrounds are now open for your camping pleasure.
Once again, I apologize to you all for the sporadic emails, you can thank MSN and Verizon. I think we have everything fixed - our new email address is [email protected].
We had a black lab that got out of the owner`s truck on Thursday, May 17th. It was picked up by a father and son who were in a gray - gold - taupe Chevy Z71 extended cab. Please give us a call if you happened to have picked up the dog. The owner extended his trip, stopped by the lake 3 mornings hoping the people who picked up his dog had come back to see if anyone had lost a dog.
We have gone to our summer hours of 7:00am to 7:00pm. The cafe will be serving Breakfast from 7:00am to 11:00am and Lunch from 11:00am to 4:00pm everyday at least through Labor Day.
Remember your polarizers, sunscreen, bug juice and PONCHO along with a few layers of clothes - just in case.
If you have any questions, send an email to [email protected]or give us a call at 760-873-7425. ??If you are receiving duplicate emails, let me know and I'll remove one or all of them and if you just can't stand receiving the beautiful pictures and fishing news, just let me know and I'll remove yours.
