Fishing has been looking quite a bit better this past week with reports of a great largemouth bite. Largies have been biting best in the mid-morning hours in most of the coves in the fish arm but specifically Dry Gulch, Alligator Cove and Elizabeth Canyon. The Ski arm has also seen some largemouth activity in SS Ski, and the coves around Kong Island. Jigs, drop-shotting a Roboworm and split-shotting a 3" Berkeley minnow have been a few ways these anglers have been targeting the largies.
As far as the striper bite, only a few tales of a striper here and there have been circulating amongst many struggling swimbait anglers. Stripers are still being metered pretty deep over 150 feet in most cases, but some anglers. Stripers are still being metered pretty deep over 150 feet in most cases, but some anglers are getting lucky with spoon and ice jigs if you catch the stripers hanging around in shallower waters.
Trout have been biting power worms and some powerbait, but also Gold Pheobes and little gold Kastmasters. They are biting around the point from the west ramp, near the beach and you still might be able to find them around the docks. The lagoon has still been good at night with the swimbaits. Anglers are pulling out plenty of good sized fish near the spillway and back near the RV campsites.
