Upper Lake Water Temperature: Low to Mid 50's
Lower Lagoon Water Temperature: Low 50's to High 40's
Next Trout Plant: Department of Fish & Game will stock Upper Castaic Lake the week of January 29th

Fishing has been tough for stripers and largemouth. Trout have been hanging out around the marinas for a few days after the plant but then head out to deeper waters.

The swimbait bite for stripers has been really tough with only a handful of fish being reported. Most of the fish being reported were caught on the day of or the morning after the plant.

A few double-digit largemouth have been caught during the plant, Scott Kenzel caught a 13 lb. largemouth from the dam on a swimbait the day of the plant. The largemouth bass being caught out on the lake are still pretty deep around 25 to 40 feet.

The striper anglers that are hitting up the buoy line are catching a bunch of catfish. Anchovies and chicken liver are starting to produce other catfish around the lake. The lagoon has still been producing more fish at night and at dawn around the overflow and the RV campsites.

While the cut bait hasn't been producing big numbers for the stripers, the swimbait bite is doing a lot better around the dam and west ramp. Lunker Punkers and bombers are great baits for the early morning and late evening bite while the Huddleston's and Castaic swimbaits appear to be working during the day off...... Read More
