It's been all about trout this past week, when the wind and weather cooperated. Several bigger fish were reported, and Friday saw a lucky angler score an 8 lb. "tail-walker" from an undisclosed location from shore. "We also saw quite a few 3-4 lb. fish brought in by the rental fleet" said staffer Brian Nickel. Trolling action did slow a little though, but more boats still had some nice stringers of fish. Rapalas, needle fish, and night crawlers were the top producers. Power bait and crawlers had the most success from shore. The best locations were Cachuma Bay, little Cachuma, and E point. Bass angliing was slow, but it was last known.that they were taking jigs at 25 ft. There was a handful of crappie, catfish, and carp reported, but with very few anglers fishing for them, it's hard to tell if there is a good bite or not.
Fish count: 132 anglers reported 228 trouts, 9 largemouths, 6 smallmouths, 7 crappies, 6 catfishes, and 2 redears for a 2 fish per rod average.

Cachuma Lake Fishing Report
Cachuma LakeAnglers experienced perfect weather as well as a good trout bite this Thanksgiving weekend. It seemed that most boaters and bank fisherman alike had some nice Calaveras 'bows on their stringers. Trolling in front of Santa Cruz Bay, Cachuma Bay , and the river channel were the best locations with needle fish, kastmasters, or dodger and crawlers the best offerings. We are receiving another 4000 lbs. plant this Monday, November 29. A little more cooling...... Read More
