Weather: Temperatures have been in the 80's in the morning and rising to the high 90's in the afternoon.
BASS
The heat can't quell DVL! Anglers are getting satisfaction with the topwater action. Poppers, Zara spooks and puppies, Vixens, Rapala Xraps, rattle traps, Z plugs, and Sammie's. The scrounger fluke combo is still an excellent choice to catch bass on the attack. You can't go wrong with senkos or drop shot finesse worms in standard colors for mid day fishing. The afternoon will typically be a great time to throw spinners or buzz baits.
TROUT
DVL anglers saw few trout this week. Most recent reports have them between 30 and 60 feet on the west side of the lake. Nightcrawlers, Rapalas, and spoons are a few of the most common summer trout baits.
STRIPER
DVL is striper central with anglers reporting massive fish this week. Kastmasters, Krocodiles, Needlefish, scroungers, underspins and topwater shad baits are the hot stuff for DVL striper. Cliff and Scott Graham reported a combined total of 9 stripers over 10 pounds their biggest at 13 fishing with Kastmasters on the west side. Mark Franco of Yucaipa caught 9 totaling 82 pounds fishing with Krocodiles. Mark also reported two 20 pound stripers this week fishing on the west side with spoons. Bill Stone of Hemet caught a 8.41 pound striper fishing with a rattletrap.
CATFISH
The catfish bite is still strong. Anchovies, mackerel, or chicken liver are the recommended baits for cats.
PANFISH
Bluegill is bold but crappie is spotty. Shore anglers should fish in the twigs with worms or jigs. From a boat fish the dams with a worm and a float.
