BASS
The nonstop topwater action at DVL is just what anglers are looking for. Reports are flooding in of absolutely ridiculous topwater fishing until as late 11:00 am. The reported spots are everywhere from the marina to the west dam. Just keep your eyes peeled for violent boils and the largemouth can be found. The lures of choice are just as divergent with spooks, sammys, rattle traps, tango dancers Rapala x raps, z plugs, and spro shad baits just to list a few. From mid day on, fishing plastics is the word. Senkos, Ikas, drop shot finesse worms, and Carolina rigged brush hogs will do you well.

TROUT
DVL anglers saw few trout this week. Most recent reports have them between 30 and 60 feet on the west side of the lake. Nightcrawlers, Rapalas, and spoons are a few of the most common summer trout baits.

STRIPER
The striper bite was on fire this week. Scroungers, Rapalas, Spro shad baits, spoons, zplugs, or any shad bait that matches the hatch will get some boiling striper. The west dam and the marina are the most reported spots for crazy striper action. Ivan Yang of Banning got a 4.6 pound striper fishing the west dam with a Kastmaster. Jessica Mena of Hemet got her two biggest striper at 7.6 and 6.8 pounds fishing the west dide with a swimbait. Kevin Deemer of Hemet got a 9.9 pound striper fishing near the inlet with a Kastmaster. Kyle Eady of Temecula caught a 14 pound striper fishing near the east dam with a swimbait. David Post of Redlands got a 24.19 pound striper fishing near the west dam with an ice jig.

CATFISH
Several anglers reported catches over 5 lbs. Mackerel and anchovies have been the most reported baits, but shrimp and chicken liver has accounted for a few reports. The most reported areas have been the saddle dam, Rawson cove, near the quarry, and along the east dam.

PANFISH
DVL anglers are enjoying a tremendous panfish bite with bluegill being the predominant catch. Rawson cove, the marina cove, the east dam, and the south corner of the west dam are common spots for panfish. Live worms or jigs will usually do the trick. Mike Pavanac of Diamond Bar caught a 1.25 pound blue gill fishing from shore with a nightcrawler.
