BASS
It was another week of immense topwater ad drop shot action at DVL. Overcast mornings are keeping the topwater bite phenomenal on the points. Common topwater baits are scroungers, spooks, Rapala X -Raps, and floating trout swimbaits. As mid day draws near the drop shot is still hot fished along weed laden points. Great colors are morning dawn, prism shad, watermelon red, and oxblood. Michael Seewald reported 5 bass on a variety of topwater baits fishing the points until 10am. "Lunker1979" reported a great bite on his BBZ-1 yielding plenty of 4 pound bass until 11:00am when he switched to the drop shot where he stuck countless fish less than 4 pounds. "Dude47" reported 29 largemouth bass and 2 smallmouth bass drop shotting plastic in the weeds.

TROUT
There is still plenty of trout to be had at DVL, but you must hunt them down. Trout are up shallow along weed lines and submerged brush in 15- 20 feet of water. DVL anglers are accustomed to deep trolling in the summer, but with the surface temp nearly 10 degrees cooler than previous years the trout are still cruising the shorelines near the west dam and by restroom 3. Surface trolling with small spoons, nightcrawlers, or Rapalas might do the trick. There were a few trout reports this week by anglers fishing with nightcrawlers near the south corner of the west dam.

STRIPER
DVL saw a few striper catches this week.Overcast mornings made it a great week for striper. Scrounger heads proved to be the best bait in the morning. Trolling in the afternoon with Kastmasters, Needlefish, or Rapalas caught some stripers between 2 and 7 pounds.

CATFISH
There were a lot of fat cats this week ranging between 7 and 15 pounds. There are big limits from shore and boats near the attenuator the inlet and in Rawson cove. Mackerel anchovies or shrimp are the most common baits. Mr. Borohachi reported a 10.58 pound cat fishing with a senko. John Neal of Compton caught an 8 pound cat fishing near restroom 2 with stinkbait.

PANFISH
The bluegill is hot on the dams. Fish with worms or jigs for some great panfish. The most notable panfish report was a 2.55 pound red ear caught near the west dam on a nightcrawlers.
