Surface water temp: 70- 73 degrees
Fish Plants: Scheduled trout plants will resume when surface temps decrease.
Lake Hours: 5:45am to 7:00pm
Weather: Temperatures have been in the 60's in the morning and rising to the low 90's in the afternoon.

BASS
DVL bass fishing is the best it has been all year! Anglers are reporting 20 fish days, but the catches have been running small, between 2 and 3 pounds. The topwater bite is outstanding for morning anglers. Drop shot rigged worms in oxblood, prism shad, and morning dawn, senkos in watermelon or green pumpkin, Carolina rigged brush hogs have been reported as the best choices in plastics fished on the points. Shad baits like flukes and Basstrix are great when the bait is up. Kevin Deemer of Hemet released 25 bass up to 4 pounds fishing the points with underspins, Drop shot worms, and Carolina rigs. Steven Frazier released 10 largemouth ad 2 smallmouth bass fishing topwater in the morning and drop shotting later in the later on. "Lunker 1979" released 20 bass fishing between 10 and 30 feet with drop shot rigged senkos. "Topwater Tony" reported his best day of 2010 releasing 23 largemouth and 4 smallmouth bass fishing with plastic worms and shad baits.

TROUT
Looking for DVL trout? Try fishing in 10 - 20 feet of water, in the coves, with nightcrawlers, mini jigs, or Powerbait. Jesse Dinkins of Hemet, along with two other anglers, caught 12 trout between 1 and 2 pounds fishing with nightcrawlers in the south corner of the east dam.

STRIPER
DVL saw a few striper catches this week. Trolling Kastmasters, Needlefish, or Rapalas caught some stripers between 2 and 7 pounds.

CATFISH
There were a lot of fat cats this week ranging between 7 and 15 pounds. There are big limits from shore and boats near the attenuator the inlet and in Rawson cove. Mackerel anchovies or shrimp are the most common baits.

PANFISH
The bluegill is hot on the dams. Fish with worms or jigs for some great panfish. Kim Peterse of Culver City caught a 1.38 pound bluegill fishing on the west dam with a nightcrawlers.

LAKE RECORDS


Lake Record Striper
April 17, 2010: Jesse Mena of Hemet broke the DVL striper record with 33.27 pounds. He was fishing near the inlet tower with a Lunker Punker.

Lake Record Largemouth Bass
March 16th 2007: Mike Long of Poway, 16.43 lb bass. He was fishing the west dam with a 6" "Real Trout" Rago swimbait.

Lake Record Crappie
Jesse Mena of Hemet caught a 3.47 pound crappie fishing near the saddle dam with a white crappie jig.

Lake Record Red Ear Sunfish
Michael Wolf of Redondo Beach caught a 3.45 pound bluegill fishing with trout Krilla near the rock quarry.

Lake Record Catfish
October 29, 2008: Bob Baker of La Mesa caught a 52.81 pound catfish fishing with a Yo Zuri lure.

Lake Record Trout
March 14, 2009: Andrew Aralos of Hemet caught a 15.45 pound trout. He was fishing with Powerbait near the east dam.
