BASS
DVL saw a topwater torrent this week with anglers catching large numbers of bass on spooks, scroungers, and shallow running jerkbaits. The topwater bite is lasting as late as 10 Am then the bite moves to plastic worms and creatures. Swimbaits are still working, but instead of trout pattern switch to shad or bluegill. The afternoon is a great time to fish spinner or buzz baits.
TROUT
Looking for DVL trout? Try fishing in 10 - 20 feet of water, in the coves, with nightcrawlers, mini jigs, or Powerbait. Jesse Dinkins of Hemet released well over a limit of trout fishing with nightcrawlers on the south corner of the west dam in 10 -15 feet of water.
STRIPER
DVL saw a few striper catches this week. Trolling Kastmasters, Needlefish, or Rapalas caught some stripers between 2 and 7 pounds.
CATFISH
There were a lot of fat cats this week ranging between 7 and 15 pounds. There are big limits from shore and boats near the attenuator the inlet and in Rawson cove. Mackerel anchovies or shrimp are the most common baits.
PANFISH
The bluegill is hot on the dams. Fish with worms or jigs for some great panfish. Kim Peterse of Culver City caught a 1.38 pound bluegill fishing on the west dam with a nightcrawlers.
