Bass

Bass fishing picked up this week this week. There have been a few swimbait reports with most of those catches being near the marina, from shoreline, or in the north east corner. When the bass are stuck to bait schools ice jigs and spoons have been highly successful. Bass have been chasing bait from 35 to 50 feet on the points, or along the dams. There have been some good bass caught by trolling cranks along the dams or over the points with lead core or downriggers. Carolina rigged big worms and brush hogs got some great bass this week. Pumpkin or watermelon Ikas also were reported as a good bait choice. John Bolduc of Homeland hooked into some nice bass trolling a needlefish at 50 feet ear restroom 3. Eloise Hoshide of Gardena caught a 6.1 pound bass fishing near restroom 1 with a swimbait. "Sea Addiction" got the biggest fish of the week at 10.40 pounds fishing swimbaits.

TROUT

Shore anglers found it impossible to limit out this week. Boat anglers were still having a tough time. Trout were biting near the marina specifically along the shoreline fishing are, but holdover trout have been few. Most trout were caught between 10-25 feet with Powerbait in green or rainbow. Inflated night crawlers fished off the bottom were heavily reported this week. Kastmasters, Thomas Buoyants, and mini jigs were the lures that worked the best for trout.

STRIPER

The striper bite was considerably slower this week than in the past. Trout swim baits, Plugs or large topwater baits were the most reported lures for striper. Fishing points near the marina or on the inlet remain proven spots for boaters. Jesse Mena of Hemet caught a 13.54 pound striper fishing from shore with a Lunker Punker. Paul Padilla of San Jacinto caught a 15.01 pound striper fishing near the east dam with a Lunker Punker. Bryan Borde of Winchester caught an 18.22 pound striper fishing near the east dam with a Lunker Punker.

CATFISH

The cats are back at the attenuator biting at about 20 feet on mackerel, shrimp, and anchovies.

PANFISH

The panfish bite is on the decline and will continue to drop in conjunction with surface temps. Jigs, nightcrawlers, and, mealworms are typical baits for panfish with the dams being the best spots.
