This week at Lake Isabella, the lake has dropped to 54% capacity as water releases continue. Crappie action remains good near the South Fork, where anglers are finding fish holding in deep brush and submerged structure. Small to medium live shiners and white/chartreuse mini jigs fished in about 15 feet of water have been the top producers. Catfishing has been excellent during the evening hours, with quality fish falling for SSS Dip Bait, nightcrawlers, and cut baits. The bass bite has slowed slightly but continues to produce on jigs, Senkos, Texas-rigged craws, and 1st Gen Sexy Shad spinnerbaits worked around submerged trees. Trout fishing remains steady around the lake, with both shore and boat anglers finding success. Boaters trolling Tasmanian Devils, Needlefish, and Flicker Shad continue to report excellent trout catches.
