The lake level remained steady at 78 percent of the lake’s storage capacity, and water temperatures fell into the upper fifties and low sixties. Anglers reported a fair to good bite for all species. Smallmouth and largemouth were the best bets for anglers fishing the 15 to 30 foot zone with drop shot, Carolina rigs, and shaky heads in green pumpkin, purple, and brown colored plastics. Bass anglers also reported a developing spoon bite for deeper fish. Striped bass chased down trolled umbrella rigs, small swimbaits, and streamer flies in about 50 feet of water over main lake points. Catfish were reliable in the coves east of the marina. The first trout plant went in at the west ramp and anglers lined the shore for limit style fishing. The rainbows took Panther Martins, Kastmasters, dough baits, and tube baits.

California Aqueduct: Anglers reported fair fishing in the southern sections of the aqueduct
Castaic Lake: Water levels fell to 79 percent of the lake’s storage capacity and water temperatures dropped to sixty degrees
Pyramid Lake, CA: The lake remained near 92 percent of its storage capacity, and water temperatures fell below sixty degrees
Lake Isabella: With the heavy storms this week, Isabella rose to 26 percent of capacity
Kern River: The river flows have kicked up a bit with the recent rain
Lake Kaweah: Kaweah Lake rose to 10 percent of its storage capacity, and fishing has been fair
Lake Success: The lake rose to 14 percent of its storage capacity, and fishing has been good
• The Bakersfield Firefighters trout derby was held last Saturday, and the trout bite was excellent
Ming Lake: Bass here at Ming are very active right now
Buena Vista Lakes: Fishing was decent at BV with trout anglers picking away at the remaining rainbows from the fishing derby
