This summer was a grind for Pyramid Lake anglers with constant algae blooms and a fair to good bite. The excellent fishing at Castaic and Casitas provided anglers better options closer to home. At Pyramid Lake bass anglers found biting bass on points in the 15-to-30-foot zone with finesse baits. Weed beds provided action for weedless white Flukes and white buzzbaits worked along the outside edges of weed lines. Crankbait fish have been reported with more frequency as well. Striped bass were sluggish with trolled umbrella rigs working most consistently. Striper boils were sporadic but available. Water temperatures fell into the low seventies and, the lake held near full pool last week.
