The lake remained at 34 percent of capacity, and water temperatures fell into the mid-sixties. The lake is transitioning into an early winter pattern with bass and bait moving deeper in the water column. For now, some bait is still up shallow, and of course bass are there to chase them. When the wind allowed launching anglers found biting bass from 5 to 25 feet deep in coves holding baitfish. Much of the action came on drop shot, Ned rigs, and jigs on main lake points. However, anglers also found biters while throwing shad patterned crankbaits, and jerkbaits fooled fish in the mud lines. The striper bite has become a deep bait bite on cut sardines and lugworms in the ski arm at the buoy line. Striper also fell for trolled umbrella rigs and flies using the fly coring technique. Trout anglers were pleasantly surprised by another stocking on Wednesday, and fishing has been good. Trout fell for dough baits, minijigs, and lures near the marina. Catfish took dip bait, cut sardines, and chicken liver in the fish arm.
