BASS
Bass anglers are still doing great, but shore fishermen are lagging. Topwater and shad baits remained the best methods for morning bass fishing, where spoons and worm fishing were great for deeper fish.this week. Spooks, jerkbaits, scroungers, Kastmasters, Hopkins spoons, ice jigs, little Georges, reapers and morning dawn Roboworms are just a few the hot baits for largemouth. Richard R. Laughery of Perris got his biggest bass at 4 pounds fishing from shore with a spoon.
TROUT
Just a few more weeks until trout stockings begin which will hopefully revive the DVL trout bite.
STRIPER
The striper bite has been improving steadily. Most reports this week had stripers at 40 feet on the west half of the lake. Spoons, Little Georges, Tail Gunners, scrounges and white underspins were the most reported baits. Mike Krammerer of San Jacinto caught a 14.57 pound striper fishing the north west side of the lake with a Yo Zuri 3D minnow.
CATFISH
There were a few cats caught this week. The east dam and Rawson cove were the most reported spots. Roberto Mojica and Sitronjo Mojica each caught their biggest cats at 10.58 pounds fishing the east dam with mackerel.
PANFISH
It was a great week for crappie at DVL. Most reports had large schools on the east dam. Mini jigs, live worms, and crickets are the best baits for panfish. Scott Holley of Torrance caught 23 crappie fishing the east and west dams with jigs.
