BASS
DVL bass fishing is definitely the epitome of southern California bass fishing. No lake can compare to the wide open bass status of DVL. Bass are waging an all out attack on the shad leading to an excellent, crank bait, scrounger, and underspin bite. Bass will bite non stop on the drop shot with morning dawn, tequila sunrise, and hologram shad 4" worms or Carolina rigged reapers in shad colors. The upcoming trout plant will bring out the big bass so get out your big baits. Jeff Alley of Palm Desert caught his two biggest bass at 4 pounds fishing with a Sluggo. Mark Knoop caught a 5 pound bass fishing with crank baits.

TROUT
The first trout stock is scheduled for this Thursday so ready your light tackle, Powerbait, mini jigs, and roostertails.

STRIPER
The striper bite has been improving steadily. Most reports this week had stripers at 40 feet on the west half of the lake. Spoons, Little Georges, Tail Gunners, scoungers and white underspins were the most reported baits. Hubert"kewly"Zimara of long beach caught a 17.09 pound striper fishing with a Lunker Plunker in the third cove to the right of the marina. Stephan Kosal of Ontario caught an 8 pound striper fishing with a GS30 mid lake.

CATFISH
There were a few cats caught this week. The east dam and Rawson cove were the most reported spots.

PANFISH
The pan fish bite is still reeling the east dam being the best spot. Blue gill is the most common catch, but some crappie are being caught. Live worms, mini jigs, and crickets are the best baits.

LAKE RECORDS
Lake Record Striper November 11, 2005: Art Berry of Hemet; 29.77 lb. striper caught at East Dam using swimbait.

Lake Record Largemouth Bass March 16th 2007: Mike Long of Poway, 16.43 lb bass. He was fishing the west dam with a 6" "Real Trout" Rago swimbait.

Lake Record Crappie: 3.0 pounds landed by Keith Thomas. He was fishing with shad.

Lake Record Blue Gill: Michael Wolf of Redondo Beach caught a 3.45 pound bluegill fishing with trout Krilla near the rock quarry.

Lake Record Catfish October 29, 2008: Jason Walsh, of Temecula, caught a 42.56 pound catfish using an LA Slider near the inlet tower.

Lake Record Trout, March 14, 2009: Andrew Aralos of Hemet caught a 15.45 pound trout. He was fishing with Powerbait near the east dam. ? ?
