BASS
DVL bass are feeding on shad, so try your best to match the hatch. Flukes fished with scroungers or underspins, small cranks, and ice jigs are prime choices. That is not to say that the drop shot, Carolina rig, swimbaits, Lil'Georges, and spinner baits did not account for some great catches this week. Bring an arsenal of gear if you want the best results. Most reports have bass between 20 and 40 feet on main lake points.
TROUT
DVL trout refuse to come out. Anglers have been struggling for months to find rainbows with little or no success. In previous years fishing deep with nightcrawlers or shad baits was the key to healthy holdovers, but the trout are in steep decline in the summer of '09.
STRIPER
The striper bite was fair this week. Most anglers found them deeper this week. 40 feet seems to be the magic depth. Little Georges, Tail Gunners, scoungers and white underspins were the most reported baits.
CATFISH
There were a few catfish report this week mostly from Rawson cove where they were hungry for anchovies.
PANFISH
Bluegill are still plentiful along the dams. Live worms or jigs are a sure thing.
