This week’s fishing has been excellent with bass and crappie. Bass are starting to go shallow getting ready for spawn. Crappie have been seen by the island about 10-15 feet under water. Best method is trolling for crappie with Rapalas or using Crappie jigs. They tend to school making it easier to location many crappie at a time.
For bass fishing the best lures at the moment would be drop shot rig, wacky rig, jerkbait or crank bait ( lipless as well), and jigs. Best colors by the island ( in murky water) would be blue, black, red, and orange. For clear water green pumpkin, white and chartreuse.
Trout are still present but are slowing down. Best method for them is trolling a Carolina rig with power bait. Best colors for trolling are anything bright such as pink.
