Cachuma Lake capacity is 46.2%. It is the start of Crappie season. Stop by the Tackle Shop for what to go and what to use. We are still in winter season for both bass and trout. Use jigs, swimbaits, and drop shots, and fish with big lures such as big swimbaits and 1 oz jigs, or downsize to small lures or plastics.Bass primarily stay in deep water, usually 20-30 feet.
Unlike bass trout may be found 10-15 feet deep. Our last trout plant was January 20th but we will plant again in April. Trolling is the #1 way to catch so use flicker shad’s, rapalas, rooster tails and kastmaster will yield the best results. Use bold bright colors such as fire tiger, Chartruese and pinks will stand out better, especially in murkier waters. We sell all of these lures as well as power bait and nightcrawlers so stop by and stock up this winter season.
Water temperature: 50 degrees
