The lake held near 30 percent of capacity, and water temperatures have been in the mid to low sixties. Anglers reported another steady week of bass fishing with some huge striper in the mix. Large and smallmouth went for Senkos, drop shot, and Ned rigs on main lake points and along bluff walls. Most of the fish have been holding in the 10-to-25-foot zone, but anglers also reported plenty of action up shallow. Striper anglers had a good week with lures and bait both working well. Bait anglers reported a lot of smaller fish eating cut baits and lugworms. Striper also went for trolled umbrella rigs and flies. Lure anglers fooled striper with jerkbaits, Kastmasters and large trout imitation swimbaits as well. The trout swimbaits fooled some real monster striper because Castaic received the second trout plant of the season. Trout anglers reported full stringers while using dough bait, minijigs, and nightcrawlers. Kastmaster and Roostertails fooled plenty of trout as well.
