BASS
DVL bass fishing is wide open! The topwater bite in the morning is phenomenal. The drop shot is nearly guaranteed to entice the bass. It is difficult not to limit at DVL and most folks are reporting 20 fish days. Spooks, Sammy's, Dango Dancers, and X-raps are great topwater choices. For the drop shot, margarita mutilator and morning dawn are the preferred colors. Senkos and Ikas in watermelon or pumpkin are also great for largemouth. Most reports have bass holding between 30 and 40 feet. The biggest bass of the week was 8.5 pounds caught by Mark Franco of Yucaipa. He was fishing with a swimbait along the east dam.
TROUT
Trout reports were lacking again this week. There was one report of a 3.5 pound trout caught on the west dam. It was caught on a nightcrawler fished at 80 feet.
STRIPER
Anglers reported a few small striper catches this week on swimbaits. The most reported spots have been Rawson cove, near the rock quarry, and by restroom 2.
CATFISH
Cat fishing was slow this week. The saddle dam and Rawson cove were the most reported spots for cats. Most cut baits will work mackerel, anchovies, and nightcrawlers being the top baits.
PANFISH
The panfish bite is wide open! Blue gill will bite just about anything they can fit into their mouths. Fish with mini jigs, mealworms, or nightcrawlers along the dams for effortless catches.
