BASS
DVL bass fishing continues to thrill anglers. Bass have been in 5 to 15 feet of water along the dams and in the backs of coves. Texas rigged brush hogs and lizards in watermelon varieties, drop shot rigged 4" plastics in purple, and Senkos, grubs and Ikas in watermelon have been the most reported baits. Eddie Fish Taco caught a 6 pound bass fishing on the west dam with his secret Fish taco lure. Jake Oliver caught an 11.9 pound bass fishing with a Rapala in the south west corner. Shao-Chuan Wang of riverside caught a 5.54 pound bass but would not reveal his interrogation methods. Mike Cochran of Palm Desert caught a 6 pound bass fishing with a Lizard. Soth Uong of Lake Elsinore caught a 6 pound bass fishing the west dam with a watermelon grub. John Haskin of Lemon grove caught his two biggest bass at 7.5 and 6.1 pounds fishing on the west dam with plastic worms.

TROUT
Trout fishing has been fair for boaters and shore anglers. Nightcrawlers, Powerbait, Powerworms, and mini Jigs have been the best baits. Most trout catches have been on the east dam or the coves west of the marina. Travis Aoyama of Lakewood caught his two biggest trout at 5.26 and 4.82 pounds fishing with nightcrawlers. Danai Mamuong of Santa Ana caught a 6.16 pound trout fishing with a crankbait on the east dam. David Rangel of Menifee caught a 6.22 pound trout fishing from shore with a nightcrawler.

STRIPER
There was one striper reported this week it was caught by Raymond Rambo of Desert Hot Springs he was fishing with a Fish Taco Lure along the west dam. The most common baits for striper are swimbaits and large plugs either trolled or fished on the points and near the inlet/outlet tower.

CATFISH
The few anglers fishing for cats this week did well. Catfish Russ stopped by DVL for a half an hour and landed two cats at 15 and 10 pounds. He did not report the bait used, but mackerel, shrimp, or anchovies usually do the trick.

PANFISH
The panfish reports have remained slow but that is not to say the opportunity is not there. The bite will improve as the water gets warmer. Mini jigs, and live worms are the most common panfish baits.
