BASS
DVL anglers saw another great week for largemouth bass fishing. There were plenty of great reports of quantity as well as quality. Largemouth top weights have been ranging from 7-9 pounds. Drop shoting 4"worms, Carolina rigging brush hogs, underspins, swimbaits, crankbaits, and senkos have been the most reported of the wide variety of baits working for bass. The east dam, north shore points, and the west dam have been some popular bass spots. Rick Rivera of Menifee caught the biggest bass of the week at 9 pounds fishing with plastic worms on the points.
TROUT
The DVL trout bite continued to improve this week with plenty of big trout being caught on a variety of baits including Powerbait, nightcrawlers, mini jigs, Kastmasters, and Rapalas. Michael McGill of Lake Elsinore caught a 23 pound limit on powerbait fishing the first cove to the right of the marina. Terry Ferrell caught his biggest trout at 7.14 pounds fishing the east dam with a Kastmaster. Anthony Givia caught a 6.14 pound trout fishing with a Rapala on the east dam. Ricardo Martinez of San Jacinto caught a 7.33 pound trout fishing with Powerbait on the east dam. Kristina Pulido of Hemet caught a 6.8 pound trout fishing with rainbow powerbait on the east dam. Valene Omullance of Hemet caught a 6.32 pound trout fishing with Power eggs fishing to the right of the marina. 7 year old Kai Jayden Nostrates of Menifee caught two trout at 9.50 pounds fishing with chartreuse Powerbait in the third cove to the right of the marina.
STRIPER
The stormy conditions this week did not improve the striper bite with only a few reported catches. Eddie Fish taco Martinez caught two stripers at 7 and 6 pounds fishing with a Fish Taco lure. Austin Hough of Cherry Valley caught a 14.3 pound striper fishing the rock quarry with a Spro BBZ-1.
CATFISH
There were few catfish reported this week, but recently the third cove to the right of the marina, the rock quarry, and the inlet have been hot spots. Mackerel and shrimp have traditionally been the best baits. Jason Bush of Temecula caught an 11.31 pound cat fishing from shore with as hot dog.
PANFISH
There were no panfish reports this week. The panfish bite has been slow and will probably remain that way until surface temps increase in the spring.
